This website was created for the Superheroes of Victoria as part of my Capstone project. This non-profit organization, consisting of dedicated volunteers, focuses on raising awareness and funds for charitable causes such as BC Children's Hospital, Island Health, and more. They bring joy to sick children in hospitals by dressing up as their favorite superheroes, and actively participate in community events and walks for causes like MS and Cystic Fibrosis.
The Superheroes of Victoria aimed for a vibrant and engaging WordPress website that embodied their superhero and comic book theme. The primary objective was to develop a site that serves as a comprehensive information hub, detailing their mission, the ways they contribute, opportunities for volunteering and joining the team, and providing contact forms for event inquiries. A key feature was the integration of a Facebook Feed on the homepage, as this was their main platform for raising awareness, promoting causes, and recruiting volunteers.
This capstone project was a success, with the initial scope completed ahead of schedule to coincide with the Superheroes of Victoria’s 15th anniversary in July 2024. Additionally, we were able to incorporate extra features and pages. Throughout the project, I enhanced my design and development skills, gained substantial experience with WordPress, and effectively applied Agile Methodology, including conducting scrum meetings, managing sprints, and handling the backlog.
This website was designed and developed by the Solid Red Dev team, which includes myself, Faride Tari, and Max Doak.
