Apple Farm App

In my first year UX/UI course, I was assigned to create a local apple farm app under the name Pippin Orchards. I was tasked to create paper wireframes, grey scale mockups, and finally high-fidelity prototypes utilizing Adobe XD. Things that needed to be included were, a landing screen, home screen, what apples were available and their picking/harvesting seasons, which apples could be used for certain uses, and apple descriptions.

I created the logo in Illustrator and used Pixabay and Unsplash for images. Some feedback I received at the time was that many of my headers appeared as clickable buttons, the font wasn’t the most readable, and constant use of outlines created a harder to read look.

I enjoyed the design and creation process as it was my first time designing an app, not to mention using software to see the prototype operate. Looking back at my app, I know that my knowledge has grown in the past 2 years, and tasked myself with recreating the app with my new design skills and knowledge of UX/UI design.

I found this redesign particularly satisfying, as it showcased my growth in both UI and UX design principles.
